From 26th to 28th November 2018 CIAPE and ilmiofuturo animated an experiential path full of meetings linked by the common thread of learning in the workplace and cooperation between the training and business worlds. Teachers of professional institutes from Germany, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania and Italy have thus taken part in the numerous study visits, organized in the frame of the Erasmus+ CREATOR project.
The mobility was inaugurated on Monday, 26th at the headquarters of Junior Achievement Italy with a workshop examining the importance of taking into account preferences, ambitions and needs of young people while developing educational programs in the field of entrepreneurial education. It emerged that very often the entrepreneurial ideas of young people are originated by principles of utility, inclusion and solidarity. Likewise, the updating of teachers’ skills appears to be central so that the training potential of the courses is really effective.
On Tuesday, the day started with a morning spent at Portafuturo, where it has been explored the importance of reasoning with the students since the very last years of high school regarding the trends of the labor market, preparing them on how to design a good CV and become familiar with the legal framework regulating the professional relationships with companies. The added value of Portafuturo is since many years the ability to place people at national, as well as regional level of the labour market, and in the organization of career and recruitment days, during which a profiled group of students is put in touch with companies that offer vacancies. Among the most requested job profiles: computer engineering and robotics on one side, and specialized manufacturing on the other.
The Tuesday’s afternoon was the turn of an enriching itinerary through the main sectors of activity of CIES Onlus, born in 1983 in Rome with the aim of countering racism through the organization of training courses, intercultural mediation and international cooperation projects. In 2010, in the Esquilino district of Rome, the MaTeMù CIES youth aggregation center took hold, and eight years later it continues to be a meeting point for artistic and cultural growth in a non-formal environment, but also for listening, help and socio-professional orientation for girls and boys of all cultures and backgrounds. Between 2015 and 2016 the Training and Work Orientation Area (SOFeL) and the training course in intercultural gastronomy MaTeChef were launched. The latter will inspire, two years later, the birth of the restaurant-social enterprise Altrove – Porte aperte sul mondo: a place of transit or landing for many young professionals, loyal customers … and for our teachers.
Accompanied by the Euphoria association, the three-days study visit ended in Ostia, at the “Michael Faraday” Industrial Technical Institute, where the host organization shared with the participants some relevant experiences on Erasmus+ KA1 projects in which their learners took part, highlighting the precious skills and abilities acquired by the students during the traineeship abroad. Faraday’s teachers described the recruiting methods of the companies present in the area and the methods chosen by the school for the establishment of collaborative contacts with the local business community. The visit of the Institute’s FabLab premises aroused great interest among the participants, who shared the need to replicate similar experiences in the context of their respective institutes, in order to start up young people on the job training and to strengthen, through an experiential approach, skills and competences.
