Permanent Learning for Success
CIAPE, in the context of the forthcoming Erasmus+ programme, signed a pledge in the frame of the European Alliance for Apprenticeship in order to coordinate and upscale different initiatives for successful apprenticeship type schemes.

The European Alliance for Apprenticeships brings together public authorities, business and social partners, VET providers, youth representatives and other key actors such as chambers in order to coordinate and upscale different initiatives for successful apprenticeship type schemes.
Actually, apprenticeships and work-based learning appear to ease the transition from education and training to work. Boosting the quality and supply of apprenticeships is therefore one of the EU policy initiatives to address the unprecedented levels of youth unemployment.
The Alliance relies on the active engagement of all stakeholders. The European Commission will kick-start the process and facilitate interactions, monitor developments and provide some financial support.
Member States have already committed through the European Council Conclusions of January 2012 to increase “substantially the number of apprenticeships and traineeships to ensure that they represent real opportunities for young people”, and are now working with the Lithuanian Presidency on concrete commitments.
Other key stakeholders with concrete contributions to the Alliance are the European Social Partners (ETUC, BusinessEurope, UEAPME, CEEP), Eurochambres, individual businesses and the European Round Table of Industrialists. Cedefop will provide administrative, monitoring and analytical support, while ETF will promote the principles of the Alliance in partner countries.

CIAPE signed a pledge in the frame of the European Alliance for Apprenticeship.
CIAPE and network members actively defined and implemented Quality Standards for Apprenticeship, involving businesses and VET organisations in a European Network for the certification of learning outcomes deriving from the apprenticeship experience.
The process foreseen the following actions:
Development of the Quality Apprenticeship European Network, made of Chambers of Commerce, companies, VET providers and research centres belonging to different European countries (apply now)
Definition of European Quality Standards for Apprenticeship, to be jointly developed with all the stakeholders and focusing on specific activities to be implemented during the apprenticeship period, leading to the acquisition of sectoral specific knowledge, skills and competence
Joint definition of Recognition procedures, valid at European level and trusted by companies and VET organisations, leading to the certification of the learning outcomes deriving from Apprenticeship
Definition of specific Guidelines for companies, i.e. how to implement quality standard apprenticeship
Definition of specific Guidelines for trainers, i.e. how to monitor, assess and certify the competencies acquired during the apprenticeship period.
Belonging to the Quality Apprenticeship European Network is an added value for the participating companies and training organisations, which can jointly develop quality standards enhancing the transparency of learning outcomes and the mobility of apprentices all around Europe.
Vocational Education Training organisations belonging to the Quality Apprenticeship European Network will rely on motivated and trusted companies in different parts of Europe, willing to accept apprentices and to properly follow the development of specific sectoral competences; VET organisations will be also in the conditions to provide a European Certification of Learning outcomes deriving from the Apprenticeship period (in cooperation with the hosting company).
Companies, especially SMEs, will be able to implement quality standard apprenticeship, participating in the transnational definition of criteria for quality standard; they will belong to the Quality Apprenticeship European Network, committing themselves to follow specific standards fostering the acquisition of competences and skills, and they will receive motivated apprentices from different EU countries.
Apprentices will be able to implement a period of Apprenticeship in a trusted company – able to assure the respect of quality standards in the implementation of the apprenticeship – at national or transnational level. The pathway will be focused on the acquisition of specific learning outcomes.
The initiative has already gathered lots of consensus from qualified organisations throughout Europe. The partners of the network are public and private organisations, NGOs, Vocational training centres, Research centres, Universities, SMEs and large companies belonging to the educational sector and to many other sectors.
The countries involved are showed in the following image. A national coordinator has been appointed in each country. Please, contact us in order to know who is the coordinator in your country.
If you represent a VET organisation, a company, a research centre belonging to any of the European countries, please apply to the Network now (apply). CIAPE will be in charge of the coordination of the activities at transnational level. The working language will be English. In each country a coordinating partner will be the responsible for the definition of the national network, and for the implementation of the activities. The networks will be sector-focused.
Organisations will implement the activities related to this pledge on voluntary basis. Working in this project is totally free. Once the partnership will be been set up, we will define together the best cooperation means (mostly groupspace based).
CIAPE will then draft a new project to be presented under the Erasmus+ programme.
