Participants
The course is designed for learning professionals interested in acquiring the skills to design elearning courses:

– trainers
– training directors
– training managers
– learning strategists
– teachers (primary, secondary, vocational, adult)
but it is also addressed to everyone who is interested in e-learning design principles.

 

 

Prerequisite
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Basic knowledge of e-learning approaches and principles.
To have attended at least one e-learning course is recommended.

Course description
This course provides an introduction to e-learning characteristics, benefits, activities and resources needed to design and develop an e-learning project.
The basic course will focus on how to design an e-learning course (from the needs, target and task/topic analysis to the definition of learning objectives, sequencing, choice of learning strategies, storyboarding techniques and delivery formats).
The advanced course will also teach participants how to develop an interactive, engaging elearning course using the authoring tool Articulate Storyline 2 (www.articulate.com).
At the end of the basic course, you will have designed and storyboarded an e-learning course.

Learning objectives
At the end of the course students:
– will gain a deeper understanding of the main theory about e-learning;
– will be able to apply the instructional design principles to the design of e-learning courses;
– will better understand the steps of the instructional design process;
– will learn how to choose the correct design according to the learning content to be delivered and to the learning objectives;
– will learn, through practice, how to design an effective e-learning course.

 

Agenda

  • Day 1 – Presentation and Introduction to instructional design

Morning session (10.00 – 13.00)

The first day of the course will start with an introduction about e-learning: we’ll explore the fundamentals of this method, its potential and we’ll present some relevant best practices.

Afternoon session (14.00 – 17.00)

During the second half of the day, in a mix of theory, examples and exercises, we’ll start working on a concrete project.

At the end of the first day we’ll have the basic knowledge about e-learning and its potential.

 

  • Day 2 – The world of Instructional Design

Morning session (10.00 – 13.00)

During the second day we’ll go deeper in the discover of Instructional Design world. What challenges faces an Instructional Designer? What is the ADDIE model? How does it work?

Afternoon session (14.00 – 17.00)

We’ll see the main structure of an e-learning course, how it is composed and how its components, the learning objects, are structured.

At the end of the day you’ll be able to define the main objectives of an e-learning course and to design ITS structure.

 

  • Day 3 – Learning objects design: what they are and how they work

Morning session (10.00 – 13.00)

During the third day we’ll see how a learning object is made. How many types of learning objects do we have? How can we choose the one which best suits our contents and learning objectives? How dothe contents have to be designed? How does the content have to be structured?

Afternoon session (14.00 – 17.00)

During the afternoon session we’ll go further in the study of the learning objects and we’ll also learn some graphic principles in order to design a good learning product. Finally,we’ll see how evaluation tests are made.

At the end of the day you’ll be able to structure a single learning object, and to decide the level of interaction of it according to your learning objectives and course contents. You will also have at least one complete structured learning object ready to be developed.

 

  • Day 4 – Learning objects development: introduction to the authoring tool “Storyline 2”

Morning session (10.00 – 13.00)

On the fourth day, we’ll present the e-learning authoring tool “Storyline 2”and we’ll learnhow it can be used to develop an interactive, engaging e-learning course.

Afternoon session (14.00 – 17.00)

You’ll work on the development of a brand new learning object.

At the end of the day you’ll have developed at least one complete learning.

 

  • Day 5 – Let’s play your story

Morning session (10.00 – 13.00)

On the last day we’ll then proceed reviewing all the learning object you designed and developed during the course and we’ll give you some advice in order to improve them. We’ll close the course with a questions and answers session.

Afternoon session (14.00 – 17.00)

Course evaluation session.

 

Cost

PROMOTIONAL FEE (valid until 7 May 2017) – Bring a friend and you will both get a 50% discount on the participation fees:

€ 225,00/person rather than € 450,00/person.

The same promotional rate will be applied in any case to:

  • unemployed people;
  • students.

REGULAR FEE: € 450,00 (a discount of € 100,00 will be reimbursed to those participants that will attend a new training course organized by CIAPE within one year from the International Training Week 2017)

The participation fee includes:

  • registration to the course,
  • educational material (USB stick with teaching material),
  • welcome World fair and aperitif on Sunday, 14th May,
  • coffee breaks,

Trainers

GIADA MARINENSI
Researcher at Link Campus University, in the Digital Administration and Social Innovation Centre (DASIC), and coordinator within the research team specialized in Serious Games and Hybrid learning. I’m also a certified LEGO® Serious Play™ Facilitator (http://www.lego.com/en-us/seriousplay).
As coordinator of the Serious Games and Hybrid learning team at LCU, I’m responsible of the management of several education projects, both at national and international level. My fields of scientific interest are new technologies and methods in teaching/learning processes, such as serious games, gamification, mobile learning, digital and interactive storytelling.

BRUNELLA BOTTE
Brunella Botte, is a researcher at Link Campus University, in the definition of strategies for the implementation of the Game-based Learning principles Massive Open On line Courses (MOOC). She is responsible of the management of several education projects, both at national and international level. Her fields of scientific interest are Hybrid Learning, Serious Games and traditional Distance Learning.

 

The International Training Week

CIAPE – The Italian Centre for Permanent Learning, runs the first edition of the International Training Week, which will take place from the 15th to the 19th of May 2017, in Rome (Italy).

This edition’s training course “Instructional Design for e-Learning” will be addressed to trainers, teachers, counselors, managers and staff as well as to self employed people from different European countries.

The theme will be covered through a series of hands-on workshops, talks, group events, tours, best practice presentations from participants and some seminar style discussions. Plenary sessions and courses-specific sessions will alternate, and the event will have a practical approach. Participants will be invited to share experiences from their institutions to be developed during and after the course. There will be of course time to connect and network, as well as cultural activities and opportunities to experience the many artistic masterpieces that the city offers, together with a taste of true Italian lifestyle & cuisine.
